WHat is VEX Robotics?
We Googled it
VEX Robotics - noun;
"The VEX Robotics Design System is a robotic kit intended to introduce students as well as adults to the world of robotics."

Sounds Pretty Cool, Right?
But to us, and a lot of students, it's so much more than that.
It's more than just a way for us to learn how to build, or program, or design, or compete, or even document a project.
It's more than just pieces of metal and plastic held together by other pieces of metal or plastic, tied up in wires and zip ties.
It's more than just an expensive hunk of metal on wheels that responds to a radio signal.
A lot of people ask why. Why do you stay after school for hours? Why do you spend so much time on your computer? Why do you always have remnants of zip ties in your back pack, screws in your pocket and rubber bands in your hair?
Why do you waste your time?
Why do you do robotics?
To those people, for the same reason some kids play sports.
Because it's fun.
We compete to win, and practice to be better. We stretch our minds, as well as our muscles. We meet new people, share ideas and thoughts, learning things we never knew. We don't give up, and we don't back down.
We build a team that is a family, not a unit. We build our dreams, we try things we know will fail, we explore things we don't know and share what we do. There's something special about the look of wonder that you see in your teammate's eyes when your robot moves for the first time, something special about the first time you win a match.
VEX is not just robotics. Not just science and math.
VEX is imagination, discovery, excitement and teamwork.
It is the nervous butterflies you get when you walk into your first interview and the firm handshake you greet the judges with at your last. It is the disappointment of not making Alliance selections and the unbelievable joy when they say "You're going to Worlds." It is late nights and early mornings before competitions and sleeping on the bus. It is putting in 110% of yourself for the benefit of the team, not accepting anything less than your very best.
It's knowing that all your work paid off, win lose or draw, because you know you can take it to the next round or you can take it back to the drawing board and either way still be surrounded by the most supportive teammates you can imagine.
VEX is more than robotics. Robots are just the tip of the iceberg.
